Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to produce accurate payrolls in a timely manner; pay bills associated with the payrolls; and provide microcomputer programming support to the Payroll Department. This is accomplished by verifying, calculating, and inputting various payroll data; engaging in written and oral communications; balancing and running actual payrolls; paying appropriate bills after payrolls are completed and prepare various reports; filing and maintaining documents. Other duties include assisting employees with concerns and questions; assisting Payroll Manager with various job duties; providing assistance to other departments regarding payroll issues; and assisting with other duties as assigned.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Five years related experience.

Verify, calculate, and input payroll data. If deadlines are missed in Web Time Entry, input additional data and prior period absences. Generate payroll reports and use for pay period processing.

Engage in written and/or oral communication with employees, department personnel, outside vendors, and Board members; answer telephones; direct walk-ins to appropriate area to answer questions and/or concerns; create documents, copy and/or fax; e-mail and electronic transfers.

Build, update, and maintain various Microsoft programs including Access, Word, and Excel programs; maintain expertise in Colleague system to assist departments and produce reports; submit TRS information electronically; and update payroll website as necessary.

Balance and run actual payrolls: input, verify, and balance payroll data; coordinate with Information Technology to submit direct deposit data to bank; verify, print, and obtain signatures of all hard copy of reports; e-mail payroll reports to appropriate departments; print, seal, and distribute checks.

Pay bills after payroll run and produce various reports; assist in running pre-note process; input information into data base all deduction and benefit totals; coordinate with Business Office checks to pay deductions and benefits; copy all remittance reports per vendor for distribution to the companies with payments; mail checks and remittance reports to vendors; file electronically of Child Support payments; file electronically TSA and ORP payments; calculate ERS payment; process and verify TRS information was accepted by TRS.
