Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to plan and manage the development and delivery of publicly scheduled Continuing Education programs. This is accomplished by assessing community needs for Continuing Education courses; planning and managing delivery of publicly scheduled courses; preparing and managing operating budget, establishing operating procedures, and supervising personnel; coordinating the submittal of departmental schedule for publication; coordinating program logistics; and preparing program and financial reports. Other duties may be assigned.

Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of programs and/or processes. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively. Examples include knowledge of computer programming, software development, and statistical procedures, or advanced technical knowledge of a specialized field of study.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Five years experience in Higher Education with three years experience working with adult education.

Assess community needs for Continuing Education courses by consulting with advisory committees, business, and professional organizations, and area school districts to gauge program development; conduct periodic reviews of Coordinating Boards Workforce Education Course Manual to develop new courses and to check compliance with existing course curriculum; meet with current and prospective instructors to develop courses; review schedule and course evaluations to gauge program or course demand; work with academic departments to collaborate the delivery of dual enrollment courses; and work with school district personnel to develop enrichment activities for children.

Plan and manage delivery of publicly scheduled courses by developing courses, schedules, securing instructors, and monitoring registrations and enrollment levels to determine proceeding with or canceling a class; review Workforce Education Course Manual for curriculum and course development; monitor other community colleges course schedules to identify training trends; review online vendor course inventory for compliance and correlation with the Workforce Educational Course Manual curriculum; recruit instructors from throughout the College, local independent school districts, and from the community; work with College Relations staff of to market courses/programs.
