This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Courses may include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or Police Science.

Three (3) years of Law Enforcement related experience to include instructional experience in either a military or civilian law enforcement setting as well as defensive tactics, handling and firing pistols, shotguns, and semiautomatic rifles.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/ outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.

Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.

Familiarity with all phases of police science and law enforcement.

Preferred Qualifications

TCOLE Certified Instructor.

Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas). Demonstrated leadership experience that includes supervisory experience.

Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities as well as commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.

Excellent writing skills and capable of using and producing electronic presentations with PowerPoint or other similar software programs.

Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
